Boxing is a sport with a very proud history in Tonga. The Tonga Sporting Hall of Fame is littered with great Tongan champions such as Joe Mataele, Kitione Lave and of course, our Olympic Silver Medallist Paea Wolfgramm.
Boxing was formed as an association in 1960 and its first President, William Wight held the post until 1988. He was the first qualified referee to work at the 1963 South Pacific Games in Fiji.
Boxing is a sport that Tongans are built to excel and we hope that our work will help to develop that potential to the maximum.
